Are you interested in psychoanalytic treatment?

The Psychoanalytic Clinic of the Western New England Institute for Psychoanalysis, established in 1962, is an outpatient clinic dedicated to providing low-cost psychoanalytical treatment to individuals for whom psychoanalysis is the preferred therapeutic approach.

Psychoanalysis is a highly effective therapeutic modality dedicated to alleviating psychic suffering. It aims to explore emotions and behavioral patterns that can impede individuals from attaining fulfilling relationships, pursuing meaningful goals, and authentic human connections. It has been shown to markedly reduce psychological distress and enhance overall well-being, opening up the potential for greater fulfillment in life.

Psychoanalysis is an intense treatment that consists of meeting regularly several times per week. The duration of psychoanalytic treatment varies according to the individual’s specific needs and circumstances, often spanning several years to achieve comprehensive healing and growth.

Psychoanalytic treatment is conducted by clinicians who have already completed their training in psychiatry, psychology, or social work and are now pursuing advanced training in psychoanalysis. These clinicians are supervised by a senior psychoanalyst from the Institute.

The intake process involves a series of consultations to discuss what has brought you to seek treatment, your particular situation, and your problems and assess whether psychoanalysis through our Institute is appropriate and feasible for you.

You should be aware that while treatment may be available, there could be a waiting period before it begins. If full psychoanalytic treatment at the Clinic is not feasible, we can discuss other options.
