Welcome to the Western New England Society and Institute!
The Western New England Institute for Psychoanalysis, founded in 1953, offers a core educational experience grounded in a reading of Freud, a strong developmental tradition from the Yale Child Study Center, the neo-Freudian thinking of Hans Loewald, and Erik Erikson’s study of culture. This classic ground is augmented with contemporary theories of object relations and relational views. We are actively engaged in charting a course at Western New England that attempts to break from the historical tradition of socio-economic, racial, and cultural exclusivity.
Exploring the Complexity of the Human Mind
At Western New England Psychoanalysis, we believe in understanding the full complexity of the human mind. Our community is not just vibrant and collegial, but also deeply inclusive, making space for everyone. We are committed to helping clinicians find their unique approach amidst the diverse perspectives of today’s psychoanalysis.
